ride to conquer cancer

Cycling is a very large part of my life as is the charity work I attempt to get involved with. This year I've been talked into riding 6 very large charity rides to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research with an amazing group called the Vision Crusaders as a part of the RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER, a worldwide fundraising effort to finally rid the world of a terrible disease.

I'd love for you to help support my pledge to ride the GRAND SLAM!!! All 6 Rides RTCC Rides in Australia/NZ; BRISBANE, SYDNEY, MELBOURNE, ADELAIDE, PERTH and AUCKLAND! Approximately 1200km of cycling not to mention the many extra I'll ride around each of the cities.

As an added incentive, for all people/companies pledging over $1000 (as a single donation) I am willing to offer a contra deal on my photographic services. Please email me for more information.

Please find the links below for donation pages for each of the rides;

Sydney (2/6): http://sy13.conquercancer.org.au/goto/MattL_syd

Perth (3/6): http://pr13.conquercancer.org.au/goto/MattL_per

Melbourne (4/6): http://ml13.conquercancer.org.au/goto/MattL_mel

Adelaide (6/6): http://ad13.conquercancer.org.au/goto/MattL_adl

I feel is appropriate to explain a bit about why I'm riding. I'm very lucky to say that I've not directly been impacted by cancer; my nearest incident is the loss of my Grandfather from Pulmonary carcinoma (Lung Cancer) when I was just 3 years old. I was too young to understand and was never emotionally scarred from the incident, though it would have been amazing to have the ability to grow up with him and get to know him better. My memories of him are simple; he was on an oxygen tank in his Lutwyche house coughing a lot. I'm dedicating my ride to him in the hope that others don't need to be lost to such a cruel disease.

Now whilst most people choose to take the ride on a road bike with gears and brakes, I've opted to complete my ride on a brake-less track bike/fixie. These bikes do not allow you to coast or change gears and the faster the pedals go, the faster you go.

The reality is, I need to raise $15,000 in order to do all 6 rides, $2,500 minimum fundraise for each city as entry to each cities ride. All proceeds go to charity.

Please click the links below to donate. Once $2500 has been raised in the first city, I will be updating this with information as to which Ride to donate to next.

Thank you for your support.
